It is with great pleasure that the entire JUKKI team would like to present our new collection of blankets made of exclusive, delicate and soft New Zealand merino wool.
What distinguishes merino wool?
Merinos live in extreme weather conditions. In winter, in the area where they live, the temperature drops to -20 degrees. Merino wool is built so that they can survive in really low temperatures in winter, and in summer it supports the process of not overheating and breathing animal skin.
Merino wool has a completely different structure than traditional wool. Regular wool fibres are thick and stiff – they feel stabbing when in contact with the skin. Merino wool fibres are thin and resilient, and a blanket made of merino is very pleasant, it does not bite, it is soft and delicate.
Properties of merino wool:
- 100% natural – obtained from sheep living in their natural environment.
- 100% biodegradable – due to its natural origin, it decomposes in the soil within a few years.
- Naturally breathable – this is one of the most breathable fibres.
- Thermoregulation – helps to keep warm when it’s cold, and in summer it prevents the body from overheating.
- It wicks moisture away – merino wool perfectly absorbs moisture. On the surface of the fibres, the moisture does not condense, but evaporates. It is especially important for the baby’s comfort so that he is not awakened by the unpleasant feeling of sweating the clothes.
- Odour-resistant – Merino wool absorbs moisture, which also means it absorbs sweat and odour. Merino wool blankets do not need to be washed as often as regular cotton blankets.
- Fireproof – the internal chemical structure of the wool makes the wool naturally flame resistant. While cotton catches fire at 255 ° C, the temperature must reach 570-600 ° C before the wool catches fire. Wool never melts, so it will not stick to the skin in an emergency.
- Protects against UV radiation – Merino wool absorbs UV radiation, protecting the skin from the sun. / so it is perfect for walks in the fresh air.
- Antiallergic and antibacterial – sheep wax has anti-allergic properties, and does not attract dust and mites.
Sleeping under a merino blanket gives our little ones the comfort of rest and every mother can be sure that their child will not overheat but will not be cold.
Recommendations for washing and maintenance:
- machine wash – wool or hand wash program
- revs max – 400 r/min
- use products intended for washing wool (e.g. with added lanolin)
- do not exceed the manufacturer’s recommended amount of detergent (too much detergent is difficult to rinse out and the fibers of the blanket may harden)
- to protect the blanket from stretching, we recommend washing it in a laundry bag
- do not tumble dry as the blanket may change shape
- after washing, the blanket should be shaped by hand and dried flat
- do not dry directly on a heat source
- do not iron
Wool blankets should not be washed except when necessary. It is sufficient to air merino wool in fresh air. Wool has self-cleaning properties.
The blanket is made of natural yarn and is finely woven, so any tufting that occurs during use is not a reason for complaints.
